De Slot CPU Card is een complete computer op een PICMG card, inclusief alle kernonderdelen. De PICMG kaart wordt verbonden met het moedersysteem of externe applicaties via een backplane. Alles wordt via de slotpoort intern verbonden; USB, SATA, LAN, etc. terwijl de slotplaat per kaart externe I/O opties biedt voor directe connecties.
